A compilação de centenas de títulos foi efectuada por uma organização independente e a lista final foi determinada através da votação online dos membros da WGAW (Writers Guild of America, West) e WGAE (Writers Guild of America, East), contemplando clássicos, séries pioneiras, mini-séries, bem como programas actuais aclamados pela crítica, da comédia ao drama, dos talk-shows aos programas infantis.
